Kings and Sharks

Event Start Date: 2022/11/11

2022/11/11

We again enjoyed nice weather with clean water and warm water. The King Mackerel bite was great three days and almost zero the other four. Sand Bar sharks averaging 5-6 feet were thick three days. Spanish Mackerel were missing but a few Red Drum were prowling. Tons of Alewives were surrounding the pier and Cigar minnows came in thick a few days.

We had another great week of King Mackerel catches. That is, if you were on the pier at the right times. The majority of the action was very early mornings with a few fish scattered throughout the afternoon. There were a number of Kings that were over twenty pounds. Most of the bite was on live Alewives but a few hits came on Cigar minnows and lures. Hector, Nory, Hachid, Tommy, Jamel and Jose were some of the anglers that decked fish. Check this collection of some of the Kings:

Sharks were here in numbers several days. Sand Bars, averaging 5 to 6 feet , were hooked this week. Most were lost but a few anglers got them back to the pier before popping their line to release them. There was at least one King lost to one of the sharks. Check the picture of Carlos all bowed-up with one of the sharks he hooked and a picture of one that Sam caught.
