The 2025 BCO King Mackerel Tournament (09-28 to 11-09, 2025) ends Sunday the 9th. Seven fish have been submitted. The leader board has not changed and remains with 1st. place Danny N. 24.38# 10-17-25 4:30pm and 2nd. Place Doug S. 23.63# 10-29-25 08:15am. Sunday the final day has some great conditions predicted. The wind will be howling and the temperature falling all afternoon. That may be the day for the big ones!

Daily activity:


Thursday 30th.: water temp 71.6 NW 13-23mph in the a.m. / 71.8 NW 10-17mph in the p.m. The water was a little dirty in the morning but had cleared by the afternoon. Catfish and small Sharks were the morning catches. The afternoon wasn’t much better but at least there were a few Spanish Mackerel. Bait was scarce. 


Friday 31st.: water temp 71.6 NNW 7-9mph in the a.m. / 72.9 The water was clean. W 9-14mph in the p.m. Black Drum and Spanish Mackerel were caught in the morning. The afternoon produced more Spanish Mackerel. At sunset, Mark F decked a slot Red and Black Drum. Live bait was hard to get but there were a few Cigar Minnows and Alewives.

 

 


Saturday 01st.: water temp 71.6 NE 5-7mph in the a.m. / 73.8 WSW 5-9mph in the p.m. The water was clean. Black Drum and a few Spanish Mackerel were the catches for today.

 

 


Sunday 02nd.: water temp 72.3 NE 5-8mph in the a.m. / 73.2 WSW 2-5mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The morning was slow. The afternoon had three 10-minute Spanish Mackerel runs at the first Tee. Dom got a keeper sized Flounder Too bad it had to be released. The end Tee was dead.

 

 


 

Monday 03rd.: water temp 70.3 N 7-13mph in the a.m. / 72.3 N 7-14mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The morning was cold and very slow. The afternoon saw a big Black Drum that Jack decked. There were several small sharks caught. Dom caught a 15-inch Flounder after losing a Sheepshead to the piling. Cigar minnows were available for live bait.

 

 


 

Tuesday 04th.: water temp 71.2 NNE 8-11mph in the p.m. / 72.7 W 5-7mph in the p.m. The water was crystal clear. The morning produced a few undersized Pompano and a couple of Flounder. The afternoon started slowly, but late afternoon the Black Drum started moving through in multiple schools. Several were caught by Alisa, Jack, Jeff, Noah and Robert. Jeff’s fish was huge and his first “Big Ugly”. There were several small Sharks prowling the shallow water. The end Tee was very slow all day. I only heard about a few Lizard Fish caught. There were lots of Cigar Minnows and Alewives available for live bait.

 


 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 05th.: water temp 70.5 ENE 4-9mph in the a.m. / 72.3 S 8-10mph in the p.m. The water was clean. Again, the morning was very slow. Early afternoon three Red Drum were hooked and two decked. Jack got a slot fish, and I got one just over the slot. Charlie caught the only Black Drum. Noah decked a nice Spanish Mackerel on the first Tee and Jose caught one off the end Tee. There were Cigar Minnows and Alewives available for live bait.

 

 

 


Red Tide status: The current status of red tide in Northwest Florida indicates that red tide concentrations have significantly increased over the past week, with bloom-level concentrations of the organism Karenia brevis detected in samples from Bay and Gulf counties. Confirmed fish kills, suspected to be related to the red tide, have been reported in both Bay and Gulf counties. The next official red tide status report is scheduled for release on November 7.
