Picture Perfect Water

Event Start Date: 2024/08/29

There is no other way to describe it other than postcard perfect. The water was gorgeous every day. The temperature has remained hot. Anglers braved the heat and managed to put the following species on the deck: King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum, Ladyfish, Hardtails, Houndfish, small Bonita, Cigar minnows and Pin fish. Bait fish were plentiful. A few Tarpon passed by but were not interested in eating.

The King Mackerel bite was improved over the past few weeks. Thursday brought two on deck, Friday, the biggest of the week was landed. Then Sunday one small one was caught. Tuesday, two landed and today four hooked with 3 decked. Andrew visiting from Maryland caught a 24.5-pound King on a jerk bait. Sunday, Mahmoud caught a schoolie. Chuck and James got things started this morning with Chuck’s fish hitting the deck and “Flipper” almost immediately taking Jame’s fish. Then Nory had to show-out this afternoon landing two nice fish.

Tiny Spanish Mackerel have been around most of the week. Lots of under size fish were caught with a decent fish in the mix occasionally. Today, several anglers managed their limit of legal fish. Sabiki rigs were getting a lot of attention with a mix of Spanish and Hardtails.

The shallow water was loaded with Red Drum at times and totally void at other times. Many fish were prowling very skinny water just off the beach. A few were caught but the catch number was tiny compared with the number of fish present. Here is Chuck and Jeffery with a couple they managed to catch. Both fish were returned healthy.
