We have enjoyed fairly good water conditions and the temperature has held between 70-72 all week. The Pompano hole continued to be hot. Hardtails are here in mass and so are the hardtail anglers. Fishing for Kings off the Tee is almost impossible as every spot is occupied. Tangled lines and tempers were the norm. Cobia have been rare but a few were spotted. There was one today that ate and spit three different jigs with no hook set. Tiger managed to land a legal Cobia to be the only one I am aware of this week. Kings showed yesterday and today although not in big numbers. Cigar minnows and Scaled Sardine have also gathered in the past couple of days.
It has been an unbelievable month for Pompano. The number of Anglers have been unbelievable too. One norning I counted 41 set rods between the surf and first Tee. Hords of fish have been caught and they are still here. The bite has been a little more scattered but good numbers and size fish are still hitting the deck. Sand Fleas are the top choice but shrimp and fleas combined with “Fish bites” are getting attention too. Brenda got a 3.2 pound fish, Paul a 2.38 pound and I got a 3.2 pound fish. Marvin managed a few fish as well to close the last fishing day of his trip. Brenda also got her limit Friday.

The last two days, Kings and Spanish have been competing with hardtails for room to bite. A few Kings were landed Tuesday and three today. “Axe Handle” Spanish were in the mix too.Getting a spot to cast a bait has been a huge challenge not to mention the lack of courtesy to give the angler with a fish the space to fight his fish. Sardines and Cigar minnows were the ticket to a bite. Jeff had a 2 for three day. Carlos was lucky enough to weave his big Spanish through the lines and deck the fish.
I worked at it all week and lost a few to the piling gods but I finally landed a mulit-spot, slot Red for Paul’s dinner. It ate a big Sand Flea in the shallow water. Several of the Pomp fishermen landed Reds as well.
