Water quality has improved but there is still a little silt making it slightly milky at times. Alewives have returned as well as morning schools of Cigar minnows. Schools of Tarpon ar passing often before lunchtime but thin considerably through the middle of the day. Only a few have been hooked and none brought to the pier. Scoolie Kings and a few Spanish have been caught. Pompano made a brief appearance and a few Red Drum are around.
Early Monday morning the King bite went off. The report was over 20 hit the deck but all were small. A couple more were caught that evening as well. Tuesday saw another smaller run of Kings. Live Cigar minnows and Alewives seemed to be the best choice but a few bit frozen Cigs. Wednesday morning was much slower with a couple of small Kings caught.
Skinny water had some action several days with Pompano and Red Drum. I managed to get 4 Pompano two days in a row and lost a couple more each day using fresh Sand Fleas. Late afternoon, Reds were hanging out under the pier in small groups. If you could present your Sand Flea without spooking them, you had a good chance to get hit. I saw one lonely Flounder caught in the shallow water Monday afternoon.
Hardtails are thick as well as Pin fish. A few Ladyfish are in the mix too. Small Bonita have been schooling off the Tee early mornings but were picky about biting. However, a few hit the deck a couple of mornings.
