Water clarity has been good all week. Kings were here early mornings and late afternoon with a few Spanish in the mix. Bonita were moving through feeding on the fresh hatch. Schools of Tarpon have been regular with the bite improving as the week progressed. A few Red Drum and Pompano were caught in skinny water. Tons of Alewives are schooled around the pier with a few Cigar minnows in the mix. Hardtails are thick.
The King bite was good early mornings with another slower bite in the evenings. A couple of mornings multiple fish hit the deck. Most fish were schoolies but several weighing in the teens were landed. George’s fish was 2 ounces shy of 20 pounds. Cigar minnows and Alewives were the best choice to get hit.
The Tarpon bite is beginning to turn on. Multiple hits are happening daily. Most have spit the hook after a couple of jumps but a few have been brought to the pier. Large Swim bait have been the prime bait. I got to the pier yesterday just in time to get a short video of Will fighting his Tarpon. He got a couple of nice jumps before the fish shot the pier and cut him off.
