The water has been beautiful with lots of Alewives, Pinfish and baby Hardtails. “Flipper” has been a constant and complete nuisance. There have been small Kings and a few Spanish almost daily if you could keep them away from “Flipper”. Larger Hardtails, Blue fish and Lady fish have been caught as well. Bull Red Drum are still hanging out in the skinny water. We are seeing lots of turtles, Baracuda and today we had a large Manatee pass in the shallows.
The King bite has been decent with all the fish being little 6 to 9 pound scoolies. The bigger fish just have not been here this week. Live bait was plentiful and got its fair share of hits. A few fish were caught on X-raps as well. Some of the catches fell short of the 24 inch minimum. Chewy, Gordon and I are holding a sampling of what we were catching in these photos:
The Tarpon run seems to be nearing it’s end as the sightings are getting fewer and fewer. Only a few fish are being spotted each day and the bite has almost dried up. Angela Barrows has gotten some great photos of some of the fish. Check this great shot she got of one of the Tarpon:
This week we are featuring another Bay County employee. Tabitha Kimball has direct supervision of our pier. Her official title is Bay County Beach Operations Manager. In this capacity, she is charged with supervision and maintenance for the following: all Lifeguards, M.B. Miller Pier, and all parks on the beachside of the bridge to include: Lake Powell, Rick Seltzer, all Boat Ramps, the Skate Park and Pete Edwards. Tabitha has been with Bay Co. for 5 years. She has an AS/AA in Emergency Medical Service, a BS in Public Health and is continuing her education by finishing her Masters degree in business with a focus on Leadership. Tabitha said they have many plans for upgrades, repairs and future developments. Tabitha’s contact information is listed below:
