Rain, wind and tropical systems west of us left us with dirty water this week. The bite almost completely died. By today, Sept. 02, the water was beginning to clean although it is still silty. We have had Alewives and baby Hardtails for bait and lots of Ladyfish and bigger Hardtails more than willing to bite. Small Spanish Mackerel came in the past few days and you could catch your limit if you put in the time. Big Sabiki rigs worked best but Gotchas and bubble rigs caught them too. There was even some Pompano caught on the Sabikis off the end Tee.
King Mackerel “left the building” with the exception of three very small fish. Brenda got one the 30th that was 25 inches and there were two this morning.
There were a few other fish caught during the week. The only one I managed to catch was a small Cobia on the 27th. David R. got a large Bonita the 29th. Skinny water was extremely dirty and rough but I did see one slot Red on the cleaning table as I exited the pier one afternoon.

Water temperature: 87-84
