REMINDER:
BAY COUNTY OUTDOORS in cooperation with Bay County Recreation is promoting a Cobia Pier Tournament. The Registration is FREE and the registration form is on BCO web page. It is simple to register and only requires your Name and Email. Entry began 04-09-2021 and the close of the Tournament will be May 22nd. at 5:00 p.m. Here is a link:

Tournament prizes will be from additional sponsors: Rapala; Suffix; VMC; DOA and Grudens. There will be three places:
1st: $500.00 equivilent of tackle
2nd: $350.00 equivilent of tackle
3rd: $150.00 equivilent of tackle
I will be the Tournament Official to Weigh and record all entries. If I am not on the pier, you can call me at 770-267-2879. BCO said if you are lucky and have multiple fish, you can win in 1 or all 3 catagories. In case of a tie, the first fish weighed will take the lead in that catagory. The fish must be caught on the M.B. Miller Pier and all FWC laws and regulations must be followed. NO Cobia were decked this week although one big one was hooked but lost to the pilings today.

The water has been clean. The water temp has varied from 68 to 70 from mornings to late afternoons. Bait has been around in limited numbers in the mornings. Skinny water continues to be hot for Pompano but the number caught has been less than last week. Spanish and Bonita have been thick. Kings and Cobia were scarce. One large Black Drum was caught on a Cobia jig by Jason L.
Bonita came in thick a few mornings. The deck was littered with them. Spoons, small jerk baits and Gotchas got a bite. Multiple fish were hooked a a time making landing them a challenge. Most were in the 3 to 5 pound range.
Spanish were a hot bite again this week. Any angler wanting their limit could easily do that in a short amount of time. Mornings and late afternoons were more active. Spoons, Bubble rigs, Gotchas and Jerk bait worked well. There were several larger fish decked. Fresh Cigar minnows usually got you a larger fish.
Kings were almost absent. Brenda got one at the end of my last report and I managed to fill Paul B’s order for a small fish to smoke Monday. It could have posed as a big Spanish but at least it broke the ice for me. We tried hard with fresh live and dead bait as well as lures but the fish just were not biting.
