It was another tough week on the pier. You definitely needed a book to help pass the time. Fish were scarce except for the occasional Tarpon school passing. The water was mostly clean but dark Bay water. Tons of Alewives were around the pier all week. A few Spanish were caught early week along with Hardtails and Ladyfish. There were a few Bonita hooked and a couple landed. Sasha was tickled to get this one on the deck Tuesday.
The King bite was a little better than last week. There was one caught Sunday, three hooked with two decked Tuesday and two decked today All were small 10 pounds and less. Tommy got the first one Tuesday and Norito held one I got on my Tarpon rig with a mono leader.
Tarpon were the only game for the week. Early week a swim bait was their favorite but yesterday and today live Alewives seemed to get their attention. Several Poons were hooked during the week with a few brought pier side. Jackson L. hooked two today on Alewives, and was able to get both back to the pier.
We have a few changes on the pier. We have a new Pier/ Bay County Beach Operations Manager named James. I will give you a Bio and picture in next week’s report. There two new sets of signs posted indicating: “No Commercial Fishing” and “No Cast Nets past this point”. The No Commercial Fishing covers the entire pier and the No Cast Nets is posted at the southwest side of the middle Tea at the bathroom.
Pier closure for information the 4th of July Fireworks program. Of course these times are what is scheduled and could shift some with how quick the set-up progresses.
Friday July 2:
1:00p.m. Equipment arrives and is loaded onto the City Pier (no explosives present.'

Saturday July 3:
7:00a.m. Fireworks arrive at County Pier. The Pier is closed and cleared of people. Once fireworks are on the end of the Pier, a barracade will be established 100' from the work area and the remainder of the Pier will reopen.
9:00a.m. Fireworks arrive at City Pier. The Peir is closed and cleared of people. Once fireworks are on the end of the Pier, a barracade will be established 100' from the work area and the remainder of the Pier will reopen.
(Workers will be setting up for the show until 7-8:00p.m. Security will be posted at the end of the Piers to guard the fireworks.)
Sunday July 4:
08:00a.m. Crews arrive at both Piers to prepare for the fireworks display.
7:00p.m. Police support arrives at both Piers to barracade a 700' fallout radius.
9:00p.m. Fireworks show begins.
City Pier will be clear of fireworks and equipment by 3:00a.m. July 5th.
Crews will return to County Pier on the morning of July 5th to clear fireworks and equipment.
