With all the rain we are getting, we are back in less than ideal water. The first half of the week was silty and then dark coffee colored bay water moved in at the end of the week. In spite of this there were a few Kings, Red Drum and Spanish Mackerel plus tons of Hardtails caught. One Cobia hit the deck reported to be 34 inches.
Kings were few but we were glad to see a few hit the deck. Hashid and I decked one each on the 19th. Blaze and Anthony caught fish on the 22nd. The 23rd and 24th was dead. Today, the water was as dark as I have seen it in a long time. Gordon got the only King bite and was able to get the fish to the gaff. All of the fish were under 20 pounds. Bait was limited to small Hardtails and a few Alewives.

There were Spanish Mackerel caught during the week but most were small. One angler was able to put 8 legal fish in his cooler. Gotchas and Bubble rigs were the go to rigs.
Skinny water was dirty but the Red Drum didn’t care. Small live Alewives got their attention. Gary B. caught several during the week. Most were over slot but he did manage a couple of keepers. Gary helped a young angler named Logan (visiting from N.Y.) to catch his first pier Red. He was immediately hooked.

Water temperature: 86-88
