One More King

2021/12/02

Water has looked the best so far this year but the fish didn’t care. The bite has been very slow although there was one King, a few Spanish, a couple of Reds, Pompano and Flounder. Schools of Ballyhoo have been hanging out in the shallows. I was able to put over 4 dozen in the cooler to freeze for next season.

Danny N., from Atlanta, proved persistence pays as he would not give up on Kings. He put in his time soaking bait hoping for just one more King. His tenacity paid off as he decked a 14 pound King the 26th. We seldom get Kings After Thanksgiving but this shows there could be a straggler around if you don’t give up.

Nathan, from Conyers, Ga. spent some long hours on the pier and took a cooler of fish home. He managed to get his limit of Bluefish, a few Spanish and 4 keeper Pompano over the weekend.

Several anglers have been testing the water for Flounder over the past couple of weeks and finally December 01 arrived and the season opens. Today a number of fishermen were loaded with live bull minnows and Gulp. There were a good number of Flounder caught and at least 7 Keepers. Our new regulations raised the minimum to 14 inches and 5 fish per day. No one limited but certainly would have under the old regs.
