The water looks great and has gained a couple of degrees. The Cobia Tournament continues until May 13, at 6:00pm. There were a few King Mackerel the first half of the week. Spanish Mackerel were our mainstay for the week. A few Pompano were caught. Hardtails were thick and have been carted off the pier by cooler fulls. Bait has been scarce so bring your own.
King Mackerel continue to elude us. Most of the days there were none. Friday and Saturday were exceptions. Tiger decked a 14 pound fish Friday afternoon on a live Hardtail. Then Saturday would be our best day of the week. Several Kings were caught with Danny getting the big fish for the week. It weighed 36 pounds. Hachid would also deck a nice fish.
Spanish Mackerel kept us entertained. We had good catches almost every day. They ranged from barely legal to “Axe Handles”. Both old and young anglers got in on the action. Stuart and Johnny loaded up on 3-5 pound fish. Jemel decked a nice one. Brenda got the big Spanish for the week at 6.5 pounds and Charlie got his first pier fish. Charlie is 3 years old from Dallas and is hooked on pier fishing.
Cobia sightings have tapered off significantly this week. The Tournament leaders remain as last week. However there is still a week left to get your name on the board and have a lucky Friday the 13th. Casey’s 52.52 pound and Tyler’s 39.27 pound fish set the bar but bigger fish have been sighted.
