July 4th fireworks pier closure schedule
Sat July 2
1:00 PM Tractor trailer arrives with equipment only at City Pier. Crew transports equipment to end of pier and builds show. NO EXPLOSIVES PRESENT! Some parking spaces will be blocked.
3:30 PM ish Tractor trailer arrives with equipment only at County Pier. Crew transports equipment to end of pier and builds show.
Sun July 3
7:00 AM Tractor trailer arrives with fireworks at City Pier. Pier is cleared of people with police support. Crew transports fireworks to end of pier, and sets up 100’ barricade from the public. At this time, pier will reopen. Crew will work on show until approx. 7 PM.
8:30 AM Tractor trailer arrives with fireworks at County Pier. Pier is cleared of people with police support. Crew transports fireworks to end of pier, and sets up 100’ barricade from the public. At this time, pier will reopen. Crew will work on show until approx. 7 PM.
7:00 PM Crews at both piers will end work. Security arrives at the end of each pier to guard fireworks until crews return the following morning.
Mon July 4
8:00 AM Crews arrive at both City Pier and County Pier.
7:00 PM Police support arrives at each pier to barricade 700’ fallout radius. In many years, we extend the barricade past 700’ to the water’s edge due to wind direction/speed.
9:00 PM Shows will be begin9:12 PM Shows end.
Both piers will be clear of fireworks and all equipment by 3:00 AM on July 5. . Sand used for the big shells will be cleared off by Cheryl’s crew on City Pier and Vince’s crew on County Pier.
There is not much to report this week. The water clarity has been great and the temp held above 86 degrees. Bait has been around with Cigar minnows, Scaled Sardines and Alewives. Schools of Tarpon are passing every day but the bite has been almost zero. No Kings were caught and only a few Spanish. Hardtails hit the deck daily. Remora continue to be a problem. It has been hot with little wind to stir a bite. Reports from the Dan Russel Pier have been much more positive with lots of Tarpon hooked and several Kings decked.
Today was no different other than Jose decked a lonely Bonita.
