We began this reporting period with wind, rain and stained water and ended the same way. The water temperature hovered between 61 and 65 all week. We kept our variety of species, (Bonita, Red Drum, Black Drum, Whiting, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Flounder, Bluefish) but caught much less numbers of fish than we did the past couple of reports. The weather played a big factor in our activity as you can see in the Daily activity.
Thursday was the only day any Bonita were caught and only 4 then. Conditions were great for them most of the period, but they just were not there in numbers. A few were spotted several days but we just couldn’t get them to commit.
Flounder were more consistent until Friday. Scott caught a few off the end Tee each day. Friday, Scott fished hard off the end until 3:00 with no bite. Then, between 4:00 and sunset, 5 were caught in the shallows. Live Bull minnows were the productive bait.
A few Red Drum were caught but oddly, no Black Drum. We had to put in a lot of time and target the few fish that schooled under the pier, but persistence paid off. Chuck O., Casey W. and I were rewarded with Reds. Ghost shrimp, Bull minnows and live Shrimp were the baits that scored.
Pompano were rare. Friday morning was the only report I had of any caught. Ivan G. managed 2 keeper Pompano.

Thursday: 4 Bonita early, 2 Bluefish, 1 Spanish Mackerel, 1 Bull Red Drum hooked and lost to broken line - water temp 64.2 – 64.9 - Heavy rain and wind at daylight – water slightly stained
Friday: 5 Flounder (shallows), 1 Spanish, 2 Pompano, 1 Red Drum, 2 Whiting - water temp 63.9 – 63.7 Water still stained but beginning to clear on the end of pier
Saturday: Flounder -water temp 63.1 – 61.7
Sunday: water temp 61.7 – 63.7 with SE wind gusts over 30- thunderstorms
Monday: One Red Drum - water temp 63.0 – 62.4
Tuesday: Two slot Red Drum, 2 small Spanish Mackerel and a bluefish - water temp 62.1- 61.0 Wind late afternoon
Wednesday: water temp 61.3 – 62.8 - SE & SSE wind up to 30mph and thunderstorms all night until about 7:00am then wind switched to W- WSW 20 mph. Light rain continued until about 4:00pm. A few Bluefish were caught.
