Christmas week was slow with wind and rain keeping many anglers off the pier. Christmas Eve through Christmas day brought gale force wind thus trashing the water clarity. The buoy on the City Pier measured one gust at 54 knots. By today, it had begun to settle out but still has a way to go to be clear and clean.
Whiting, Red Drum and a few Bluefish were the only catches. Chuck O. finished his day Thursday with an upper-slot Red that was exactly 27 inches. He and Brenda got a few Whiting to boot. Other anglers put Whiting in their coolers.

Thursday: water temp 59.7 – 58.6 – 59.5 Lots of Whiting, One upper slot Red Drum, one keeper Pompano.
Friday: water temp 58.3 – 59.7 Whiting.
Saturday: water temp 59.9 – 59.4 – 60.8 Whiting
Sunday: water temp 60.1 – 60.6 Christmas Eve – WIND!
Monday: water temp 59.9 – 60.1 Christmas Day – WIND with gusts up to 54 knots
Tuesday: water temp 60.1 – 60.4 A few Blues, a Pompano and a few Whiting
Wednesday: water temp 60.3 – 60.8 A Whiting. Water beginning to clean.
Red Tide status: The red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was not observed in samples collected statewide over the past week.
